Fighting Temptations.

"Eat those doughnuts, it's so little it can't do much damage"
"Click on that link, see what it really is"
"Just one puff. You won't get hooked with just one puff"
"Tell people about how she sleeps around. After all, she spreads stuff about you"

......and so on...... are every day demons we fight with.Temptation goes back to the beginning of time when the serpent tempted Eve to eat of the tree that God commanded her not to. As we all know, she and Adam were punished. Each and every day we roll on the bed before we get up it is up to us to control how our day goes and not allow our days to control us. This world is SO evil that evil just is more enticing and we get that moment of pleasure after acting a fool in the real sense. Have you ever realized that when someone puts a limitation on you doing something that is the moment the forbidden thing is all the more appealing? Human nature which is sinful nature is responsible for that. Are we abnormal or "bad" for being tempted? absolutely not. Even Jesus was tempted by the devil. This is not a pass for bad behavior. Guard your heart.

I recently read "The Compound Effect" by Darren Hardy ((Amazing book.)) It talks about how everyday little "insignificant" decisions have accumulated results or consequences-good or bad. Don't think that one decision to buy that KFC bucket of chicken once in a month won't add a couple inches around your waistline in few months/years. You are not a trash can. Your body is a temple and a sacred place. The fastest channel to our mind is through our eyes and ears. Our senses are so susceptible to a lot of things that we are sometimes unconsciously nursing godless thoughts and trying to down play their intensities. It is just one night of getting high, and everyone does it regularly. Are you everyone? Will you stand with everyone when God is questioning you? Is it worth your eternity? These are real questions. Matt 26:41 "Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

We are all very familiar with our demons. So, it is wisest that we create boundaries. Yes! discover the beauty of boundaries. Identify what triggers or sets off your weakness and make a conscious and intentional decision to stay away from it. If you need to talk it out, find a person you trust with your life. This should be a person that will prayerfully help or guide you (and also someone's life you want to mirror). Speak openly and honestly to this person just to keep you on the right path. It is never okay to intentionally FALL into temptation and think "Oh! I'll just pray and it will be fine." While this is correct that God will accept your earnest prayer, do not take the grace of God for granted. Rom 6:1-"So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? I should hope not! If we’ve left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there?"  I know sometimes we fall. It gets hard and unbearable, but we have to wage war against sin. The best way to kill a habit is to starve it. Anything you feed grows, and without a doubt if you starve it, it dies. Like a flower, you water it (feed it) to keep it alive and thriving and getting bigger. The day you forget to water a flower, you may not see it but it begins to dry up. Few days later it begins to die and wither.

The same applies to us. Replace that thought. Pray that you develop a HATRED for that temptation (Prayer works wonders. I promise you!) nothing is too tiny or insignificant to pray about. He cares about the tiny details about you. He even knows the number of hairs on your head. Besides God, we are in total control of our daily lives and the decisions we make to bring us where we are. Do not flirt with sin. We can't afford it. Make promises to God that if you fall into a specific temptation, you will pay back (not like you really can but hey! do what you gotta do). I was on a missions trip in my senior year of college to Puerto Rico and a friend of mine misplaced something. As she was tirelessly looking for it, she said "God if I find it, I will give you 25 press-ups". Later that evening, she found it but forgot about her promise. As we were just talking and in conversation she got on the floor like out of the blue (to me) and started her press-ups. I was wondering what in the world is wrong with this girl??? and then she told me of her promise to God. It's the little things like honoring your word that will help you.

This world is so dark and sin is applauded. As ladies after God's heart, we can't live like everybody else. We can't say "yes" when we should say "no". This christian walk is never the easiest, but with God on your side, nothing is impossible. You may say but it's so hard and I just can't fight it. Who said so? You are the only person putting a limitation on yourself. 1 Cor 10:13 "No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it."

It probably won't be the wisest decision to hang around people that enable or permit your weakness because you will find yourself falling, and falling and falling all the time. We all have challenges that we have to deny ourselves of. Die (deny your flesh) daily. When you make God Numero Uno and you no longer live for yourself, the choice to stay away will be more important. It is easy to fail yourself, but to fail God is on another level. Take practical steps to curb evil. Be proactive and controlling about where, when and what you are accepting and allowing yourself to engage in. This life is not our own. We are just caretakers. Get a partner that calls you out in love. The devil is real yo! He does NOT play. The moment we have our guards down, he flys or dives right into our minds to cripple us mentally before it manifests in the physical. Don't be that girl that stays playing with her life time in, time out.

James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

We can do it. I believe in you. I'll hold your hand, but hold mine.

You are strong. You are beauty-FULL. Believe NOTHING else.
